Great Tips For Cleaning Up Your Property To Help Increase The Selling Price

Posted on

You have heard of home staging. This is when the real estate agent or other professional comes in and arranges furniture or takes away clutter to make the interior more appealing for buyers. The same can be done on the outside of the property too. Here are some great tips on cleaning up the outside of your property, so your house can get the highest price possible.

Freshen Up the Front Door and Window Trim

The front door to your house should be welcoming and inviting. If it looks a bit worn, try freshening it up with a coat of paint. You could change the color if you like, but it's not necessary. Peel away any paint that is chipping off, and repair any cracks you might find in wooden doors. Do the same thing with your window trim to keep the entrance and the front of the home looking fresh and new,

Seal the Driveway

If you have an asphalt driveway and it looks like it could use a little love, then fix some of the cracks and give it a coat of sealant. This will make the driveway look like it's only been recently paved, and adds to the overall look and feel of the exterior of your property. If your driveway is cement, take the time to fix any cracks, and you could give it a coat of waterproof white paint to give it the appearance of being new.

Fresh Flowers

If you have a flower bed or garden, then weed and take away any dead plants and replace them with beautiful blooms. Choose longer lasting flowers such as Impatiens or Begonias. They will also grow  full foliage and fill in empty spaces in the garden. If you don't have a garden in your front yard, then place potted plants at the base of the stairs, or under window ledges on the grass, or even buy hanging plants. Flowers brighten up the landscaping and give a welcoming vibe.

Clean Up the Yard

One of the most simple tasks you can do is to simply clean up the yard. Rake any old waste like dead grass and leaves left over from the fall. If your yard has weeds, take them out and remove any dead trees and shrubs on the property. Give your driveway and patios a power wash to keep them looking clean and fresh, and don't forget your walkways. If you don't wish to buy new patio furniture, then give your existing furniture a good clean and possibly a fresh coat of paint if applicable.
